Whenever friends and family come back from a trip in Manila, they bring only one "pasalubong"... and that is the most sought after, Krispy Kreme! Yum!! The sound of it makes my mouth water. Do you need to travel to Manila to get one? The answer is, "No more!"
The international doughnut store, headquartered at Winston-Salem, North Carolina, invaded Cebu with a storm on October 22. It opened stores at IT Park and Ayala Center Cebu. Soon, it will open at SM City. Cebuanos were going gaga enduring the crazy long line just to get a box of the delicious sugar-filled dough. I, too, did not mind the long line. It gives me time to think, relax, and observe. I was probably lining up for an hour and a half before I was served. The kitchen was covered by clear glass so that customers can see how neatly and carefully the doughnuts were made. A big machine glazes each doughnut with caramel. Each one then is picked by hand and customized to a flavor. Only its IT Park store has a kitchen. The store bakes and supplies doughnuts for Ayala Center. To ensure that everyone will have his fill, they have limited each customer to purchase a maximum of 2 dozens only. Strictly no hoarding of doughnuts!.. an insanely funny policy! Yes, Cebuanos do tend to hoard as if it will run out of supply tomorrow. I mean no offense. If my genes did not have the genetic signature of diabetes, I would probably hoard and store them in my room too. LOL Hmmm... I wonder if the same policy applies on Christmas and New Year holidays... <diana thinks deeply with an evil grin hehe>
